About
Rick Olmsted
I’ve been doing photography since 1981. I’ve taken B&W, color and digital photography classes, and I managed and operated a one-hour photo lab for eleven years.
My photos have been used in a number of places. One black & white calendar I photographed of Ojai (o-hi), California — titled 1993, Ojai Then and Now — is currently in the Ojai Library, the Ojai Museum and the Ventura County Museum for others to see for years and years to come. My photos have also appeared in Nevada Magazine, newspapers, books and more.
These days most of what I shoot is within a day’s drive of home: snowmelt in the granite, tufa on the shore of Mono Lake, a meadow that greens up for three weeks and then burns brown again. I draw as well — graphite and ink, mostly of the same country.
Everything on this site is available to order as a print, card or case, sized and finished for the wall it’s going on.

“The country doesn’t pose. You just have to be standing there when it decides to be beautiful.”
